Origins of Prostcrastination: The Techno collective that shook up the French Riviera

We spoke to the founder of prostcrastination, who told us more about the creation and beginnings of this collective.
Anthony Prost first created a techno diary in the name of prostcrastination because he was often asked “where are the prost parties?” and it was only natural, after demand from his community, that he created parties and subsequently his collective Prostcrastination with the idea of being the opposite of prostcrastination. “Instead of putting things off until tomorrow, let’s celebrate!”
Having never found what he really liked about techno music on the Côte d’Azur, he decided to analyze the situation in order to find a solution to the image of hard techno by making it safer, happier and more accessible. Prost began to invade so-called “commercial” clubs, sending out heavy techno and confetti, as well as themed parties (pyjama party, jungle party…) where prostcrastineurs play the game to the hilt!
Nevertheless, creating the collective and organizing it was not always easy, and Anthony had to deal with a number of difficulties, particularly human ones, as unfortunately not everyone is necessarily benevolent, and you have to be able to tell the difference. Bringing people together to work on a project is not necessarily an easy task, and ensuring that everyone finds their place was no mean feat, requiring a great deal of skill in the role of manager. There were also difficulties in finding venues, as the Côte d’Azur has no infrastructure suited to techno. The Côte d’Azur is “10 years behind” the big cities like Marseille, Lyon and Paris, but he managed to find some nice places like the Villa Club Privé, the Trendy, a boat…
You can find them at Thursday techno at the bar l’antre in Nice, with an after-party at the Kwartz, at the ProstiBoat for toe-tapping on the water, or they recently organized the prostival for 17 hours of sound, with a before pool party and after club.
Prost’s musical approach is simple: he does what he likes and books the DJs he listens to, mixing them with those of his collective without changing their nature. You can find a certain diversity of techno, hard, acid and hard trance music. The collective has helped push its artists to produce and release their first sound.
Anthony confided to us that “it’s not the money that makes the project, but the project that makes the money”, and he has some advice for you: “when you want to do a project with several people, you have to know how to make decisions and compromises, and you have to know how to stand out from the others”.
The team’s vision for the future is simple: continue to learn and progress, without resting on our laurels. “All the number 10s in our collective are thirsty to evolve and learn, and that’s their greatest quality. The most important thing is to continue to make the prostcrastinators go wild.
We asked Anthony for a little anecdote:
“I’ve got 40 anecdotes, but I have to tell you that recruiting Guizzblanc, who has become a real brother, is pretty good. Let me cut a long story short: it was 8am at an after-party at Insolente. Nico, a friendly Prostcrastination regular who’d been invited to join us, was putting sounds on the speaker. Me (Anthony Prost):
“Man, your sounds are amazing! If you learn to mix and mix it at my parties, I’ll take you with me.”
1 week later, he’d quit his job, ordered decks and put his heart and soul into it. I could feel the look of determination in his eyes. He had found his place. 2 weeks later, he was mixing for the ”
