Skahr, a name that hardly seems to whisper in the ear of an electronic nave, roaming bewitching dancefloors.
In our latest conversation with the techno/electro artist (who is also a sound engineer), Skahr shares his journey from his first love of electronic music to his development as a DJ-producer.

That’s probably what Skahr thought when he decided to devote his life to music.
The first evenings he performed behind the decks, often organized by his father, were memorable moments.
As a reward, these evenings were crowned with a generous banquet.
New Year’s Eve parties were also special occasions, with DJ inviting all his friends to his house for a night of DJing.
But perhaps the most memorable were those summer evenings, when Skahr would test his latest discoveries in front of his friends, managing to elicit sincere smiles from them.
These were moments of encouragement to pursue his musical passion with determination.
His musical universe : A self-proclaimed devotee of progressive house, tech house and electronica, Skahr is an artist who places a premium on his musical individuality rather than conforming to a defined style.
He explains: “I think we’re in an era where styles don’t really make sense anymore, where we all draw on our multiple inspirations, creating an artist’s own genre. For my part, I don’t compose by trying to approximate a style, but rather by trying to fish through all my influences to create my own.”
Her style is a reflection of her diverse inspirations.
For Skahr, blues, rock, French touch, film/documentary music, jazz and world music are key influences in his work.
The DJ expresses these influences by integrating a lot of melody into his electronic tracks, experimenting with jazzy chords and constantly evolving his compositions to avoid any form of listening boredom.
His creative process: A lover of sound experimentation, Skahr shares his love of creating improvisations while sitting down with his software and musical equipment.
Much of his creative process is based on trial and error, as well as the construction of sound compositions, explaining in particular, “Generating noises from everything, interweaving them with each other, listening to the result, a bit like sound legos.”
Skahr uses Ableton Live music production software with a 5-octave keyboard, a Zoom recorder to capture moments in all circumstances, and several synthesizers to create his electronic compositions.
He also integrates a guitar to add sonic textures to his music.
When it comes to his signature sound, Skahr looks for elements that can create a sense of harmonic chaos in his tracks.
However, it is essential for him that each track contains a groove and a dose of feeling that cannot be expressed in words.
Skahr live performances: As yet, Skahr hasn’t had the honor of performing with a producer’s hat on, but he thinks he’d take the same approach.
Performing in front of an audience can be both the most enjoyable and the worst thing ever.
As a DJ, he’s been through some of the worst parties of his life, adapting 100% to his audience, constraining himself, and after a while, when the heart’s not in it, the performances go downhill.
On the other hand, he’s also experienced evenings where he mixed only what he personally liked, only to find that the atmosphere wasn’t there.
In all circumstances, it’s vital to bear in mind that a performance is an exchange between an audience who’ve come to enjoy themselves, and an artist (a passionate profession, after all) who’s come to practice his art.
That’s why, whether as DJ or Producer, Skahr will always strive to maintain a balance between what the audience wants to hear and what he wants to play.
The moment will be all the stronger for the shared pleasure.
Tips for aspiring DJs/Producers: Skahr advises aspiring DJs/Producers to be open to musical diversity and not to neglect learning about music.
He also believes in the importance of exploring inspiration again and again, and maintaining exchanges with others who are passionate about the same thing.
Perception of the evolution of the techno music industry : Skahr admits that the commercialization of electronic music has standardized current productions and lost some of its experimental and original side.
However, he points out that the democratization of techno is a good thing for both the public and party organizers, offering them greater protection, security and visibility.
Future projects: Skahr shares that he still has a number of projects in the pipeline, whether in event and show organization, or for future tracks.
He likes to be open to all kinds of artistic and cultural projects, and looks forward to seeing what the future holds.
