For the past 14 years, the Extrema Outdoor festival has been welcoming thousands of visitors to an incredible spot, to be entertained on a variety of dancefloors. The festival’s main asset: to delight everyone! We’ll enjoy an eclectic line-up of electronic music, a wide variety of food and drink outlets, classic or luxurious accommodation options… Every aspect is designed to appeal to as many people as possible.
Let us introduce you to the essential information about Extrema Outdoor Belgium 2024, a benchmark festival in the world of music. We are convinced that you will be delighted by the promised atmosphere, the settings, and the program of the Extrema. Dates and location of Extrema Outdoor
The festivities will take place from May 17 to 19, 2024. The camping gates open on Thursday, May 16 at 4 p.m., but the shows officially start on Friday, May 17 at noon. During each of the three days, DJs will blast music from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. Afterwards, those with access to the camping (classic or resort) can attend the festival’s official afterparties.
The Extrema Outdoor Belgium festival takes place… in Belgium, as you might have guessed! More precisely, the location is in the province of Limburg (Flemish region), at Houthalen-Helchteren. Known for being held in a beautiful spot, the exact location of the festival offers quite a few amenities, in a pleasant place between forest and clear water lake (Lake Plas), where you can swim or lounge on the beach.
A line-up that sells dreams
Extrema Outdoor, since its inception, targets all techno lovers, without exception. Visitors of all ages, ethnicities, tastes, and budgets are invited to enjoy themselves. After all, this is what has shaped the identity of the organizers. From their beginnings in event planning, they bring together in one evening (or weekend) the proven international stars and the best upcoming artists in the world of techno.
At Extrema Outdoor 2024, you will find 7 stages (called “Districts”), the Aperol Spritz area, and the camping afters. The very comprehensive lineup promises a varied tour of electronic music, for each and every one of you, even the most indecisive.
The headliners are already incredible, with renowned artists such as Paul Kalkbrenner, Boris Brejcha, Adriatique, Amelie Lens, Oguz, Trym, and many others… Seeing how this opening of the lineup is already complete, one can only wait eagerly for the artists selected for the continuation. New for 2023 are expected, with Malugi or Brina Knauss, for example. Both the French and the Belgians will also be honored, with a particularly local selection. Ticket availability and pricing
As you read these lines, VIP tickets and holiday tickets are almost all sold out! These highly sought-after tickets include access to the camping and its afters, as well as to the festival for the three days.
There are still classic tickets available for the entire weekend (excluding camping) for €169.50, or for one of the three days only (excluding camping) at €79.50 (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). You can still find VIP tickets for the single days of Friday or Saturday. VIP tickets not only give access to the festival but also to VIP parking, separate toilets, and the VIP area at District 5. It is also possible to reserve VIP tables or booths for District 5 via vip@extrema.be.
A free festival day specially dedicated to people with disabilities.
On May 16th, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, will mark the 6th consecutive edition of “Extrema Special,” a free festival day specially dedicated to people with disabilities. This day will be entirely devoted to music, side activities, and a host of other entertainments for all participants. Although the program is kept secret, the organizers assure the presence of internationally renowned artists.
Access to the festival
You can get there by car, if you have designated a “Sam,” and park in the festival’s paid parking.
From Hasselt train station, the nearest city, shuttles will be set up to take you to the festival. The schedule will be published later on the website or on social networks. Good to know, if you are arriving by plane: a train station very close to Brussels airport allows you to get directly to Hasselt by rail.
A partnership with the private transport company Keolis also allows you to enjoy a private driver who takes you directly to the festival site.
Do not forget your ID card! Access to the festival and camping is prohibited for minors, and proof may be requested at the entrance. As entry to the camping is regulated, festival-goers who camp will be equipped with special bracelets.
Camping and accommodation
The official camping is already full at the time you read these lines, but there are other possible accommodation options (unless you do not plan to sleep!). However, there are still free spots at the Extrema Resort. There are also external campings and many hotels near the festival. Camping is only available for spending the entire weekend; you cannot rent a spot for just one night. RVs and other large vehicles are not allowed in the area. Before arriving, be sure to reread the rules of the places and prohibited items. A careless mistake, and you risk being denied access to your camp. It would be silly to have made the trip to end up there…
At the camping, you can come with your own camping equipment or treat yourself by renting a campsite that’s already set up. These offers come in several categories: FestiTent (basic campsite already set up upon your arrival) or the more luxurious Extrema Resort village.
If you opt for a spot at the Extrema Resort, know that your entries to the festival and afters are included in the rate. You also have free access to luxury toilets and showers, a spa, sauna, and jacuzzi. The catering and breakfast services will complete your experience. This area is slightly apart, but only a 5-minute walk from the festival gates. Of course, all this has a cost: about 600 € per person for the complete weekend.
