A key figure in the acid techno<\/strong> scene and a member of the SP23<\/strong> collective, Ixindamix<\/strong> is back in force with two<\/strong> eagerly awaited new releases<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

✔ “Bad Girlz at Work”<\/strong>, a 7-track<\/strong> digital album from her Bad Girlz<\/strong> project, due March 19, 2025<\/strong>.

✔ The first EP in the Audiotrix Kolabzz series<\/strong>, a vinyl collaboration with Scallywag<\/strong>, out March 13, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had the opportunity to chat with Ixindamix and Sim, her sidekick from the Bad Girlz project, to find out more about these tracks and their vision behind this new musical adventure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To begin with, why the name “Bad Girlz at Work”?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ixindamix:<\/strong>
“The name Bad Girlz at work is partly inspired by the Fluorescent Hi Viz vests that we wear for our concerts. It\u2019s our way of dressing up for stage shows and provides a strong look that also works well for the album artwork. “<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sim:<\/strong>
“It also represents our belief in equality between all sexes and the idea that women are doer\u2019s and can make amazing things happen and that you should work on your dreams and inspirations and not give up on what you want to achieve.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What were your inspirations for this album?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sim:<\/strong>
“I\u2019m inspired by everything, things that happen in my own life, things that happen around me and worldwide events, writing the lyrics helps me make sense of things. Lyrics can also be inspired by the music or vibe of the track or a subject that we\u2019ve already discussed”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ixindamix:<\/strong>
“Sometimes I do write lyrics and sometimes we do them together, but in this case it\u2019s predominantly Sim\u2019s work although I did help out with some food suggestions for Bad Girlz go South !
She\u2019s very good at this and knows how the lyrics will flow, so I leave it up to her unless I have a particular subject that I want to write about.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you have a favorite song? Why? <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sim:<\/strong>
“Personally I like them all for different reasons, but I like “Booty call” as it\u2019s a message to myself and “Little miss information” because it is a perfect track for our live shows.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ixindamix:<\/strong>
“I like “Going undercover\u201d because of it’s Bluesy vibe and I enjoyed getting all musical on the piano parts, also Genre busting, as it was a challenge to make a song change style completely in the middle while using the same sounds and instruments and “I am a savage” because it\u2019s a throwback to the 90\u2019S and recreates the Spiral Sound.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is there a message behind the album?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sim & Ixindamix:<\/strong>
“There is no general message apart from what we\u2019ve already mentioned as every song has it\u2019s own particular theme and vibe. As always we ask for your full support in spreading the word as promotion can be tough for independent artists.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any collaborations on this project?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ixindamix:
<\/strong>“We are usually strictly a 2 woman band, but on this album we are joined by our good friend and talented musician Dani Boom<\/strong>, from Bogota, Colombia<\/strong> on Booty Call and Bad Girlz go South.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booty call was first written by Sim on the guitar in 2023 and I had transformed it into a UKG<\/strong> track but struggled to finish it. When I visited Bogota in Feb 2024 Dani added all the keyboard parts and helped with the arrangement. While I was there we wrote Bad Girlz go South which is a homage to all our South American friends and inspired by my trips to Colombia and time in Bogota.

“Our dream is to tour South America<\/strong> and bring them the Bad Girlz experience live.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
